Every year members of the Piedmont Gardeners volunteer their time to regularly maintain the Garden at the Historic Athens Welcome Center. The club also funded improvements to the garden including adding a trellis, benches, and an irrigation system.

“The Piedmont Gardeners” was formed in 1991 and focuses on gardening education and to benefit the Athens community with their endeavors. The group organized its first garden tour in 1992. Since then it has become an annual event attended by hundreds of garden enthusiasts and helps to raise funds to support the work of the club.
